Track a phone online

There are many reasons why people might want to track a cell phone . Children`s safety if they are away , in case the cellular itself is stolen…Whatever the reason is,it is a long waited for and needed technology.

There are several options and ways now available for tracking a cell phone online and among them is GPS ( Global Positioning System ) which is a global navigation system developed by the United Stated of America Department of defense . Technological breakthroughs were  making the inclusion of GPS technology in most mobile phones a necessity  , so the ability to detect a phone’s location based on signals from local transmission towers was improved. It has become very difficult to track a phone number because of the increase of pre-paid phone numbers and the fact that most cell phone companies are reserved when it comes to their user`s personal informations . Another fact is that it is harder to track a cell number than a land line.

So as complicated this technology might seem the applications are quite easy .

Cell phone tracking, or  GPS tracking is a process in which a functioning cell phone is detected and localized anywhere on the globe, using an advanced technology that measures the power levels and antenna patterns of the handset communicating with the base stations it is passing nearby, which is  converted afterwards into geographical location.

First, the system detects the closest cell phone tower to the phone, estimating the distance between them, and after that it exchanges signals between intermediate antenna towers to make a more exact approximation of the given location .

The GPS technology can achieve a more precise localization of down to 50 meters in the city , and on the other hand in rural areas , it is less precise , because the wireless traffic is lower , and the number of cell phone towers.These days, people use the built-in GPS  in their cell phones to detect positions on streets or in vehicles, record and watch the location history on a map online.

Cell phone tracking can be done either using a special software installed on your mobile phone, or using an external chip that be connected to the handset .

Motorola and Blackberry were the first GPS-enable phones to exist in the United States market . Initially, Motorola”iDEN” phones were widely used for employee tracking on the business-oriented Nextel network. Then GPS enabled Blackberry phone were penetrating the consumer market because of the demand for phones with advanced messaging capability after they were  once used almost exclusively by corporate and government VIPs. Next came specialty devices produced under the names of “Disney Mobile” and “Wherify Wireless” targeting  by children and adults . Now , a more various GPS-enabled phones and tracking services are available .
