Sanyo Cell Phones

Sanyo Electric Co. is a big electronics company from Japan which is also a member of the Fortune 500 list. It was founded many years ago in 1950 and has the headquarters in Osaka,  Japan. But since it is large multinational company, it operates in many other countries all over the world, having 9,600 employees (in 2009). Among its products you can find semiconductors, consumer electronic products, dry batteries and also cell phones

It targets the middle of the market and has more than 230 subsidiaries and affiliates. In 2009  Panasonic bought 50.2 % stake of Sanyo for a price of 400 billion yen (4.5 billion dollars) so today Sanyo is a subsidiary of Panasonic.

So for today we’ll focus on one category of products of this company, and we are going to choose the Sanyo cell phones. It offers all sorts of mobile phones, with different features and prices and one of them is the Sanyo 8400 (also known as the Sanyo  SCP 8400 or the Sanyo MM 8400). This is a nice looking phone with all the features needed for a regular and not very pretentious user (built in speakerphone, EV DO broadband data, a megapixel camera and Bluetooth connectivity). This nice mobile phone has dimensions of 3.4 x 1.8 x 1.0 and a weight of 3.60 ounces. It has a frequency band of 800 and it can support technologies such as CDMA and J2ME. It has a built in speakerphone, a push-to-talk feature and 30 voice dialing numbers. Its internal memory has 60 MB and it has a TFT display screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 and 65000 colors. And thanks to its design, it also has an external display, which can be really useful to see the time, or to see who is calling you without having to open the phone.

As we said it also has Bluetooth connectivity, infrared communication, WAP and its Wireless Data Protocol is EV-DO, 1X. For your entertainment you can play JAVA games on this phone, and also listen to MP3 and AAC+ files. You can also take pictures thanks to its 1.3 megapixels camera and you can even record videos with a max duration of 30 seconds. Thanks to its built in speakerphone the sound quality will be really good, and you will be able to enjoy your favorite MP3 songs at a nice quality. Like any other phone it has SMS, MMS, EMS and chat features. And of course it has an alarm clock and a calculator too. its battery is a 1000 mAh Lithium Ion battery with a talking time of up to 240 minutes. Since it is an old model that was selling a few years ago, we can’t find the exact selling price for this Sanyo cell phone. So in case you already own it we invite you to tell us how much you paid for it. But looking at its features we are guessing that it is not an expensive phone, and you can probably get it really cheap from some stores.

The specialists from cnet.com rated this phone with 3.5 stars out of 5, which is quite good. They gave it 7 out of 10 for design, 8 for features and just 6 for performance. Most of the reviews from the customers are also good, and the average rating of 24 user reviews is 4 stars out of 5. So it may not be a really powerful phone, but it is definitely not bad either.

So after all the Sanyo 8400 is a decent phone with nice features for most of the users, with a decent range of features in a satisfactory, customizable design. Enjoy it, and if you own it share your impressions with us. Have a nice day!
