Pda Cell Phones

Before the borders were clearly delineated: we had the cell phone for calling and another device to manage our schedule. Mobile phone on one side, assistant of PDA type on the other . Today, these borders disappear more and more. Embedding wireless technologies Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the phone features GSM / GPS, even those stamped “broadband” (3G and 3G +), these devices combine several functions.

Call, send and read emails, visit a website, download files, record appointments, access your calendar … Blackberry, Smartphone. What differences ? They have different strength points  and different disadvantages. So depending on the intended use it should make its choice. Some criteria will help you determine, such as ergonomics, quality connections, accessibility …

Format
Near the classic PDA form, some PDAs are communicating in contrast to a much more compact size. Some models have a full keyboard for more comfortable use of the mail (hidden under the screen) and they are equipped with a touchscreen for everything else . The category of BlackBerry, which straddles the PDA and mobile phone, offers a smaller screen but also a mini keyboard below. From mobile phones, Smartphones resume in formats: hatch, bartype, slide, etc. … They lose, however the ease of use specific to the PDA and use the touch screen.

Display
To consult in good conditions of office documents, websites or emails, screen resolution should preferably reach 320×240 pixels or 320×480 pixels.

Autonomy
As with any mobile device, is a necessity . The batteries used on smartphones are Lithium-Ion, and in theory guarantee a range of at least a day. But beware, this autonomy is lowest during intensive use of certain functions, such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled, video playback, Internet browsing …

Three main systems coexist. On one side is dedicated mainly Symbian  (although exceptions exist such as Sony Ericsson P990i, P1i, M600i, etc …), while Windows Mobile 5.0 and Palm OS are suitable for all types of cellphones .These  systems are now equivalent in performance and features (input assistance, multimedia applications, data synchronization with the PC). Palm OS 5.x Advantage: the software offer to extend the functionality of its “Palm”. For its part, the platform Windows Mobile (which operates this year’s version 5-6) has a familiar interface and applications known to PC users on Windows: Media Player, Excel, Word, etc.. Finally, Symbian has proven especially in the world of Nokia smartphones. Versatile – consumer / professional – it gives users an experience closer to that of a mobile phone than a PDA.

Connectivity
In addition to infrared, almost standard on all smartphones, two complementary wireless standards exist in the world of smart mobile: Bluetooth and WiFi .

Seizure
Two types of seizures exist: the transcript of the writing stylus and QWERTY keyboard input or T9. For those who need to enter text regularly, this second solution remains more comfortable. But in any case it is appropriate to write long messages. A solution exists: to use it in a more comfortable way , you can invest in a Bluetooth keyboard.
