Cell Phones And Teens
Published by cellphones, on April 18th, 2010, in the categories: General info
Teens consider cell phones the best invention of all times. I think they are right. I couldn’t imagine my life without the cell phone. I find it useful, entertaining and a salvation.
But unfortunately there are teens that are way too obsessed by this invention. They can not stop talking, making pictures, listen to music and all this in a public space. I just hate teens who listen to music in the bus, it’s disrespectful. I don’t agree to listen to others music and I am sure that neither do other people. Cell phones are often personalized, with stickers or images. Some have radio or MP3 incorporated, so walking can be more fun when listening to music.
Each person buys a cell phone that represents its personality. That’s why there are so many cell phone models and colors. Teens like fancy cell phones, to match their free personality. Cell phones bond friendships, are part of teens first love, make them get together and know each other. Text messages are more important than food and sleep, because they feed them with the most recent news.

The many applications you can develop on the cell phone right now, makes out of it the best friend, not only for teens, but for grown up people too. It help us to keep in touch, carry our best friends’ pictures with us, listen to our favorite music, take pictures (most of the cell phones have cameras now) which we can upload on our computer and share. You cal also attach a memory card to some cell phones to stock more information that you need. It’s a good way too keep in touch with friends that live in other countries, completing emails.
I would like to remind about the radiations that some say a cell phone emits. It’s not healthy to talk too long to the phone, or too sleep too close to it! It’s better to profit of its advantages, but knowing some limits.
There are several cases when cell phones saved lives, when tourists were caught by avalanches, lost somewhere or in desperate situations.

There is still the problem of the network, the signals of the cell phones are not always good, and so the different networks come with different offers to attract clients. This is the main problem for me, because the area I live in has a very bad cell phone signal.
I sincerely, don’t think that any person would imagine his life without a cell phone, it saves us from spending time in vain and helps us solve problems from any place we might be. It keeps relationships and brings people together…
Now, I should stop right here, my cell phone is ringing…
The Palm Pixi Plus Smart Phone
Published by cellphones, on April 17th, 2010, in the categories: wireless
The Palm Pixi Plus smart phone is the new version of Palm Pre, which can be achieved for $99.99 with a two year contract from Verizon Wireless. This smart phone includes Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot capabilities, video recording, and integrated Flash support. Palm Pixi Plus resembles Palm Pixi very much, the only important difference being the Wireless Verizon presence. The price is also a good one for a new entry on the smart phone market. Once again we are amazed by the many capabilities such a thin and light designed smart phone can have, since the last appearance of the Motorola Razr. It has only 4.4 × 2.2 × 0.4 inches, and it looks far lighter and better than the previous Pre Plus, that measured 4.0 × 2.4 × 0.7 inches). Another surprising feature of this smart phone is its weight that reaches only 3.3 ounces, which means you can barely sense its presence while you keep it in your hand.
Not that it doesn’t have a solid appearance, because it looks quite well assembled and also has a rubberized back cover. On the whole, it is covered by a glossy black color, inspired by a modern aesthetic. It also has a ringer switch on the right side, two other distinct volume buttons, and a micro USB port. You can also choose between the many different back covers made by various artists, for a more personalized look, or between the solid color backs in Blue, orange, black, pink, and green, for $19.99 each.
It also manages multitouch gestures very well, and multitasks, such as pinching to zoom in on photos or web pages. It does respond very well and fast, to all these commands. However, the screen of Pre Plus was 3.1 inches, that is wider than Pixi Plus’s smaller screen size, but you will not have time to regret this quality shift, due to the previously mentioned multitasks it can handle. Of course, it was easier to see the text on the screen of a Pre Plus smart phone, whereas on the Pixi Plus you will have to firstly zoom in to start your reading. Otherwise, the small dimension of the screen would be seemingly too narrow to read large Web and e-mail pages. You will have to keep on zooming in and out in order to manage to read an entire Web page. You might also sense a lightening shift in the quality of the screen’s clarity, compared with Pre Plus. But this doesn’t differ too much, so it doesn’t keep you from enjoying the contrasts.
There is also a similitude between typing on Pixi Plus and on BlackBerry, more perceptible than with the Pre Plus. This thing is possible thanks to the candy bar design, unlike the slider one, which issues from the possibility to create a layout with raised keys. All these features maintain and make you reevaluate the importance of this smart phone’s design in keeping things simple and at the same time helping you accomplish all the complicated tasks, such as writing e-mails or typing Web addresses fast enough.
Refurbrished Sprint Cell Phones
Published by cellphones, on April 14th, 2010, in the categories: Sprint
Sprint Nextel Corp. and RadioShack Corp. are improving their services, by broadening a program through which they will refurbish old cell phones from all handset makers or wireless carriers, each company accepting more than 900 different handsets.
As they said, the program aims at refurbishing more than 64,000 estimated tons of old cell phones from all over the U.S. The costumers are invited to participate in this campaign, choosing to trade their old cell phones, rather than throwing them in the trash bin. If they agree to this plan, customers could turn up to the carrier stores to choose other cell phones and get a credit, corresponding with the value of the phone they brought. Thus, they would benefit from a new cell phone, and the company would further sell the old phones to eRecyclingCorps. The later is free to evaluate the received phones, choosing which of them to refurbish and resell, or which to recycle.
Chief Executive David Edmonson is very optimistic about the plan, and expects to obtain feed-back from many consumers, that would otherwise participate in other programs in which they would give their phones away for free, or wait weeks to be reimbursed after mailing the cell phone. “The trick here is to provide a meaningful incentive to consumers”, said Edmonson, very confident about the program’s results.
The contract between Sprint and eRecyclingCorps was set until 2017, but Edmonson hopes they will reach the target sooner. ERecyclingCorps will handle the 1,100 cell phones that were returned to their stores, in order to have nine phones out of 10 recycled or reused, for every sold phone until the year 2017.
The eRecyclingCorps company announced that only 1 percent of the cell phone users recycle their old devices, out of 4 billion users of mobile phone technology. In U.S., the percentage is 10 % of the many 275 million users. This research has been made by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Asked about his plans, Edmonson believes that he can also convince other companies and people to take part of this project of cell phones recycling soon. He estimated that 20 million to 30 million of the 130 million mobile phones will be included in the program every year, adding that he thinks this is as he calls “a good start”.
As he said, Edmonson believes he contributed a great deal to the development of mobile phone industry while he collaborated with RadioShack, and feels that now is the proper moment to deal with the issue of mobile waste, in order to obtain a balance in selling new products and helping the market’s growth.
Edmonson also stated that 80 to 85 percent of the traded mobile phones are very good ones, and could become a sales target after they will be refurbished, the immediate effect being 35 percent more profit for the company.
There is hope that other countries such as China, Russia, Brazil, and India would join the recycling campaign soon. This would be another success the company would achieve in cleaning the market from mobile phone waste, if the governments of the specified countries will want to participate.
Embarq Cell Phones For Sale
Published by cellphones, on April 13th, 2010, in the categories: The newest types
Embarq is a regional phone company that serves costumers from 18 countries, which is a spinoff from Sprint since 2006. The company has over 18,000 workers and ranks No. 3 on the Kansas City Business Journal’s list of area public companies. The company’s activity evolves around selling telecommunication products and services, among which are residential landlines and wireless services. After she split from Sprint in 2006, we can reckon that Embarq company had a greater success than its Sprint partner had since then. However, we may also need to realize that due to the different directions the two companies headed to after the split can later generate another success twist in their evolution on the market.
We also know that landlines became more and more unnecessary since the invasion of cell phones nowadays, used especially for voice communication. However, Embarq is known for its preference to continuously develop the landline communication area, and this might cause their fall behind Sprint. As the key executive from CEO, Dan Hesse always emphasizes, the conclusion that Sprint might raise its success in front of Embarq might represent a mislead for some readers. He recently said that “We would not be in the wireless business just to sell wireless to customers,” he explains. “We are in the business because we think there is an untapped need to have wireless and wireline work together.” Of course, no one really knows the reason why, because he doesn’t point it out.
However, as the records had shown, the carrier, which has about 6.8 million local lines, is losing about 6% each year. More and more people want to give up to the wireline, and get a smart phone. Studies had shown this cell phone orientation will expand more in the next years.

It seems that the double service focus of Embarq, through which it sends voicemail notification to both the landline and cell phone, doesn’t have too much success either. Nevertheless, there are clear signs that the landline services are no more considered to be a good choice for many costumers Embarq has. Once more Dan Hesse has a solution for this problem also, making use of the so called concern that Embarq would have for its customers: “When you come home at the end of the day, we want you to turn off your cell phone”. Even so, clients know better what suits them best, and their option would be to have only one phone to switch off, their cell phone.

Consequently, Embarq believed that at the end of the year 2007 the number of subscribers to their services would exponentially grow. Needless to say they were wrong once again, the total number of clients summing up to 110,000. However, Embarq doesn’t seem to get notice of this reality and says it will continue to serve the wireless clients for one more year, and after that may transition them over to another carrier. What Embarq still want is to continue developing and selling products that combine home and wireless phone service.
