Asurion BlackBerry Battery Recall
Published by Kovacs Eduard Andrei, on July 12th, 2011, in the categories: Blackberry
Like most world renowned manufacturers, BlackBerry has also been in the position where they had to recall some of their products because of a malfunctioning component integrated in their devices. Fortunately for them, it wasn’t actually their fault, but nevertheless the brands name was dragged in the mud due to the fact that affected customers don’t know the elements involved in the distribution of mobile phones. To make you understand the whole thing and to help you determine if you have such a device we’ll tell you the whole story, starting at the beginning.

First of all, you might be wondering how come it wasn’t their fault. To answer this, we first must mention the details about the problem component. This was a battery that was used in most refurbished BlackBerry phones, a battery that later was discovered to be counterfeit, this being a plausible explanation for the problems it caused. The problem this battery had was that it overheated quickly in some cases causing an explosion and injuring the phone owners. This was an urgent matter and that’s why all the batteries needed to be recalled. So why wasn’t BlackBerry’s fault? Because these phones were refurbished phones which weren’t sold by them, but by a third party company named Asurion. Asurion is a company that is contracted by mobile phone carriers to handle the technical support of their products. Besides the technical support, these companies often provide refurbished products at lower prices than the new ones.

In this case Asurion bought the counterfeit batteries and placed them in almost every BlackBerry device they sold, this making the proportions of this disaster even greater. After a quick count, it was discovered that more than 400.000 products were affected by this issue, so Asurion quickly started to contact their costumers in order to minimize the effects of this disaster as soon as possible. Due to the fact that a lot of products were involved in this recall, it is hard to determine if you are a victim of this mistake made by the company but just as a guideline we can mention that original BlackBerry batteries were not included in the recall program, only the ones in the refurbished products sold between March 2004 and November 2009.
If you bought a product in that period, you should check to see if the battery from your BlackBerry phone is original otherwise handle the phone more carefully as you never know when it might blow up due to overheating.
Blackberry 8830 Review

Even though it was released a long time ago, back in 2007, the BlackBerry 8830, also called World Edition, can be used today without any problems by businessmen all around. This article will be dedicated to one of the pioneer phones made for business, that could be used all over the world.

The fact that made this phone so great back in the day, was that it allowed for dual mode functionality. Before this phone not many mobile devices supported both CDMA and GSM networks, this being a huge problem for people who traveled a lot. CDMA systems are widely used in Northern America but it Europe, GSM networks are the more popular. Due to the fact that many American businessmen conducted business, on occasion, on the old continent Europe, this presented itself as being an issue. People couldn’t use their mobile phone except in areas where CDMA networks were available. Thanks to the BlackBerry 8830, this wasn’t an issue anymore. The phone automatically detected the network type and switched to the correct settings by itself, the user not being bothered by these changes.
On the other hand, besides the ground breaking technology it incorporated, the phone didn’t offer much. It did have the classic BlackBerry design, it had the all known BlackBerry OS with the corresponding business type and office applications, but the camera was missing and the practicality of the keys was disappointing. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that the phone didn’t need a camera, as back in those days, and even now, businessmen often go to places where cameras aren’t allowed, but the fact that the keys were so crowded didn’t have an excuse. Besides this, they have a stylish look that makes them unpractical, the fingers slipping off the keys when typing fast.

The phone has great performance, the microphone and the speaker being top class, but on the downside, the device doesn’t support stereo BlackBerry headsets. When navigating through the menu and the applications, the phone acts great. Delays are hardly noticed and the bundle of applications and functions like conference calling, make this phone great even these days.
The bottom line is that if you aren’t looking for a very sophisticated phone and just a phone that you can use for business, the BlackBerry 8830 can be used even today without any problems.
BlueBerry Cell Phone

When you’re looking at the title you must be thinking that I misspelled the phone’s name, but actually I spelled it 100% correctly. Blueberry is the name of a cheap Chinese knockoff of the famous BlackBerry Bold. The phone is actually called L900i but its alias is Blueberry. Some people might think that the name is a mockery but the Chinese manufacturer means business with their product.

To be totally honest, this is a phone you should never actually buy. Of course you can read a lot about it and be amused, but the fact is that it simply isn’t worth the 160$ it costs. It is 100$ cheaper than the original Blackberry, but as soon as you set your eyes on it you realize that it’s not the real thing, and as soon as you take a closer look, you discover that it’s nothing like the real thing.
First of all, the design is awful. It looks like a cheap plastic phone, the resemblance to the real thing being close to none. Another amusing matter related to this phone is the way it’s advertised. The manufacturer says it has a “2.4 inch 240*320 pixels screen, Bluetooth, and so on.” Everyone is especially amused by the “so on” part, as the “so on” isn’t actually that big of a deal. Some of the features mentioned in the “so on” are bass vibration speaker. Now I don’t really know what that means, but it might be related somehow with fish. Actually, a fish stuck in the phone might be the mechanism for the phone vibration feature.

Another “cool” thing about the phone is the high definition camera, which is actually a simple VGA camera that can take 640×480 pixel pictures. Apart from the “soft and delicate” keypad the manufacturer invented some technology that is incorporated in this phone. For instance, the phone has a staggering memory, who’s size we can’t even determine in normal human standards. This memory is supplied by a 1G TF memory card which must be a whole lot judging by the way the phone is advertised.
Other great features include the “Snake” game, the large number of phone books that can be stored, 300 to be more precise and the fact that it has GPRS data capacities (which actually is available even for 1$ phones). The only good thing about this phone is the fact that it can store two SIM card simultaneously but the reality is that for 160$ you can purchase a much better dual SIM phone.
Can A Magnet Really Unlock A Cell Phone?
Published by Kovacs Eduard Andrei, on July 9th, 2011, in the categories: unlock a mobile phone
There have been a couple of videos on the internet where people claim they can unlock their mobile phones using only a magnet. Because there is a lot of buzz on this topic, we’ve decided to shed some light on the matter and explain all the things behind this “amazing trick”.

Now, the trick presented in the online videos does work, but only on certain phones. Don’t get excited and grab a magnet just yet as there is a lot more to it than that. The “unlock” the video refers to doesn’t unlock the phone as most people would think. No offense to anyone, but you have to be a real dreamer to think you can network unlock or carrier unlock a phone using a magnet. The magnet unlock only unlocks the phone’s keyboard or in a fortunate case, it bypasses the phones PIN security code.
In the video we can observe the people who do this unlocking operation. If you want to unlock the keyboard, you just hover a magnet around the phone and it gets “magically” unlocked. In the second scenario where you want to bypass the security code in case you forgot it, you have to hover a magnet on top of the End Call key just before the code screen appears when you turn the phone on.

These might all seem like cool tricks but in fact, all they do is mess with the phones electrical circuitry. The risk of damaging the phone by using such methods too often is very high as anyone with a little knowledge knows that magnets and electronic circuits are not friends. These childish tricks might result in a permanently damaged phone so make sure you don’t abuse these little tricks. The security bypass trick can actually be useful in certain situations if the owner of the phone really forgot the password he set but it should not be used only once.
This shows to tell you that not all tricks seen on the internet are real, in this case many people thinking that they will no longer need the hardware unlock code that will unlock the phone, making it independent from the carrier it’s locked to.

Released in 2008, the Sony Ericsson C905 is a cool looking slide mobile phone with great features like Wi-Fi, tons of memory and an 8 megapixel camera that will bright up your day. Another great thing about the phone is the battery life which can hold on for as long as 9 hours of talk time and 380 hours of stand-by time. Because the battery is so good, it means we can use the phone for a whole bunch of different tasks like playing music or surfing the web. If you are a person who needs to stay online to do business, you can easily check your email using the C905a. In this article, I’ll describe in a few simple steps the way email has to be configured on the phone in order to fully take advantage of this service.

First of all, you need some basic information about your account, like e-mail address, username, password and in some cases the POP3 server’s name. If you are reading this article from the United Kingdom and your mobile phone carrier is Vodafone UK, you might be lucky and don’t need the POP’s server name. This happens because Vodafone in some cases has some default parameters set so the setup process will be much easier. The next step is to access the email setup wizard which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. To access the wizard, enter the menu and then select the E-mail icon. After entering the email menu, select the Accounts option and then add an account using the Add button. Next, you’ll have to enter the details mentioned above, like username and password. After the process is completed you will be asked if you want to go online. Press Yes and wait for the phone to go online. You will then be asked if you want to update the inbox of your email account and if you press Yes, all your email messages will be shown on your phone.

The email client offered by Sony Ericsson on the 905a mobile phone has the same functions as any other email client. For instance, you press the Create New button if you want to send a new e-mail, the Inbox button if you want to check your e-mail and so on. This being said, it’s time for you to give it a try and tell us how it turned out.
