Nec Cell Phone

NEC is an electronic device manufacturer that produces all sorts of gadgetry, from television sets to mobile phones. Even though they haven’t launched any phones in the past few years, once the time passed they surprised the world with a few very “special” designs. These are the phones we are going to highlight in this article, the weirdest and the funniest phones NEC has ever launched.

All the phones provided by NEC have one very big thing in common and that is the odd design. They always tried to incorporate the latest technologies, but the fact that made them stand out from the crowd was the design of their gadgets. The first phone on the list was released in 2004 and it had nothing special about it except the VGA camera it incorporated. It had no mp3 player, no memory, no Bluetooth and no video camera. Even the talk time wasn’t  out of the ordinary, allowing for only 2 hours of talk time when fully charged. The only thing that made this phone special was its shape that resembled a game console from the early years.

Another weird NEC phone from the same period was a flip phone resembling a mirror like those carried in their purses by women. Probably that’s how they wanted to make it appealing to this market segment. But the fact was that beside the shape, it still had no extra features except the basic ones mentioned above. NEC N910 functions well, but then again, there’s nothing to go wrong with it because there’s nothing on it that can go wrong. At least, different from the previous model, this phone had a better talk time.

From 2005 we have N938, with a touch sensitive TFT screen, incorporating special features like the handwriting recognition. This one still had the same old VGA camera, but at least this one had a LED flash to improve the quality of the pictures taken.

Taking a look at the models presented above, we can conclude that except from the last one, they had no special features from the technology point of view, but when it came to the odd shapes and designs, nothing could beat them. Most of NEC’s phones have been discontinued from production, but if you get the chance to buy a second hand one, you should do it for the fact that they can be found at extremely low prices, and everyone will think you have some high-end alien device that you carry with you all the time.
