LG Optimus

In the last few years, LG has become a force in the mobile phone market. The company has spent a lot of time lately to develop Android-based phones. They have tried  with LG Intouch  Max GW620 and quite recently with the LG GT540, a device technically based on 620. The new GT540 has been named Optimus, as it has taken the best features from its predecessor and added to them without making the new phone very confusing.

This new item from LG is ideal for beginner in Android technology and also for those already well-versed in the system. The Optimus is made from high quality plastic while featuring a 3.2 inch resistive screen. In terms of measures, they do not differ from other cell phone models, being 109 mm tall, 54.5 mm wide, and 12.7 mm thick. As many users are used to the comforts of capacitive touch screens, the Optimus screen is quite responsive. It can display bright images with a 320×480 resolution while supporting 256 k colors.

The device is powered on the Android 1.6 operating system, also using an updated version of the S-class interface. The users will have the opportunity to choose from their  home screen either from the basic Android version or another one customized by LG.  Features appearing on the customized homescreen include the messaging services when the mood strikes and portions up the drag-up menu. The customized screen also provides widgets, folders, and shortcuts.

Another important features of LG Optimus is the user interface which is easy to figure out while having the advantage of importing contacts from Facebook, Bebo, and Twitter. This way, getting in touch with friends and family is quick and effortless.

Another feature that can be found almost on any cell phone these days  is the photo camera. The Optimus can take photos with the help of a 3 megapixel camera including auto focus, 2048×1536 pixel resolution helping to present the photos in a bright clarity. Some nice features of the Optimus` camera are the Face and Smile detection. The users who have already experienced the Viewty Smart  the interface of the camera will be something familiar, as it is the basis for Optimus.

There also exists the possibility to shoot VGA videos at a rate of 17 frames per second, LG proving this way the awareness over the fact that phones have become more than mere speaking devices. With this new item, the company has started creating a powerful multimedia  device within the Optimus. The player of the device is able to support various formats, as DivX/ XviD while the manufacturer has tried to keep the music interface similar to that of other phones, supporting an FM radio and an RDS feature completed with radio channels. The audio quality of the LG Optimus received a boost with the BASS while providing 150 MB of internal memory.

The LG Optimus is a smartphone operating competently on the Android system, in the same time being a good step ahead for LG. The device is offering a pleasing experience to those who are currently discovering the Android technology but also to those already using it on regular basis. The keywords for this device are simplicity and functionality, while being a welcomed addition to the smartphone market.

The pink version of this cell phone looks so cool. It is a soft pink and not that crazy pink you see on certain cell phone models. I would really like to buy this cell phone but I am also interested if it can take decent pictures. I think that a 3mp camera should do the trick but I have a friends which has a Samsung F480 and her cell phone comes with a 5 mp camera which takes really cool pictures and I’m starting to wonder is maybe that isn’t a better choice. Has anyone used this cell phone and could tell me how the pictures taken look on a computer? Thank a bunch, Sandra.
