LG Ally

The LG Ally is an expensive slider-style of mobile phone featuring a physical QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, and wireless networking facilities offered by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This new LG device runs on Google Android operating system 2.1 and can be purchased for $100 with a new two year contract with the Verizon wireless carrier with the option to provide it from the carrier`s website with only $50.

LG Ally features a basic design aesthetic, making it a modern and functional mobile device. It can be found in the black version while giving the impression of a very solidly built device. Ally has about the same size like the HTC Droid Incredible and other premium phones, being just a little bit thicker due to the QWERTY keyboard under the display. There is absolutely no“wiggle” when the user slides out the keyboard, and most probably will lock firmly open when the sliding up the display.

The LG Ally might seem a good choice for an older teenager or a family–fingered adult, as it seems more sturdier than some of the other current smartphones recently launched on the market. In spite of the fact that it`s a bit thick compared to the other phones, it`s still very comfortable and is definitely pocketable. Anyway, for the ladies preferring to dress professionally for work it would probably be better to keep the Ally in the purse or briefcase to avoid to bulge in the dress slacks. For those who prefer a more casual style, they would probably not mind keeping the device in their pocket.

The display of this device it looks really nice, even though not quite as sharp and blow-you-away gorgeous as other recent devices like the Incredible. The quality of the photos is very good, even though the YouTube video quality was rather disappointing and grainy. The screen of Ally is not that bright, meaning that it will work very well indoors or in the case of low light conditions. Still, is almost completely unusable outside in the case of normal to bright sunlight. The best part of this device is the keyboard. The Ally has one of the best physical keyboards. The keys are well spaced and have a good feedback so that the user does not have to check the screen constantly to see if it has been hitting the right key. The keys are illuminated for the use in the low light conditions. In this case we have a four row keyboard with a separate number row. The only complaint user could bring regarding this aspect would be that the text for the alternative keys like punctuation is not that easy to read as it is on the other keyboards.

It also has four buttons underneath the display: call, home, menu, and disconnect, and additionally plus pressure sensitive back and search options. A four way navigation panel on the lower right side of the keyboard, making the navigation quite easy. The headphone is on the top while the volume buttons and the charging port are on the left while the microSD slot and camera button which are fully accessible are on the right side.
