Compare Cell Phone Plans For Blackberry

One of the most popular brands in the field of latest generation mobile phones is Blackberry. Most average users probably do not own one but they have certainly heard this name quite often. Blackberry, a mobile e-mail and smartphones device launched by the Canadian Company RIM (Research in Motion), includes typical smartphone applications like address books, calendar, to-do lists and other telephone capabilities introduced with the latest models but the line is most famous for the possibility of sending and receiving Internet e-mail in any place around the world where a mobile network of certain cellular phone carriers can be accessed. BlackBerry represents 20.8% of the worldwide smartphone sales, which makes it the second most popular platform after Nokia`s Symbian OS but definitely the most popular among business users, and the leader of the American smartphone market. BlackBerry services are available mainly for the North American and European customers.

The history of this brand is not so long as we might believe knowing its popularity. The first Blackberry device was introduced for the first time in 1999, as a two-way pager but the very popular smartphones were actually launched in 2002, supporting a long list of capabilities: mobile telephone, e-mail, text messaging, Internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless and information services, and triggering a new generation of convergent devices.

The BlackBerry line made its way into the marketplace by emphasizing e-mail services but currently the Research in Motion Company can offer BlackBerry e-mail services to other non-BlackBerry devices, like Palm T-reo using a special software called BlackBerry Connect. First BlackBerry devices had a monochrome display, a situation that is not actual for the latest models which also include built-in QWERTY keyboards (highly optimized for thumbing), a Sure Type keypad for typing, or the latest full touch-screen models, excluding any physical keyboard. What makes BlackBerry to be very appreciated, especially by business professionals, is the BB Internet Service. Another option to using it is the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, developed rather for average consumers than for the usual BlackBerry business customers. This new service allows POP3 and IMAP email integration, the use of up to 10 email accounts, including the most popular (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL) for personal use and other special facilities for Myspace, Facebook and MSN. The latest alternative to the BB Enterprise Server is the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector, a software that needs to be installed on the computer`s desktop with an incorporated Enterprise email client service. Newest BB devices have their own BlackBerry Messenger, also known as BBM. This is a new software that allows users to send and receive instant messages via the BlackBerry PIN or the bar code scan. For professionals it has been developed the BlackBerry Alliance program, allowing partners who work under the same contract with Research in Motion Company to create new BB applications, along with the typical ones including digital dictation, GPS tracking, CRM or expense management.

In October 2009, the new version of the BlackBerry Messenger, BB Messenger 5.0 was officially released bringing a new series of features like bar code scanning for new contact profiles, sharing location via GPS, and group creation. This new program came along with a new third-party software for the BlackBerry devices, including full-featured data management systems, used for the support of customer relationship management clients and some other new application that can be used to classify important amounts of potentially complex data. Apart from the novelty brought about by the BlackBerry devices, critics have emphasized its addictive nature. One of the most notorious BB addicts is the current U.S president, Barack Obama.
