Choose your cell phone

Do you want to buy a mobile phone? Nothing is more simple in appearance. But given the oversupply, you may feel lost quickly. The technologies, functionalities, uses and formats are constantly evolving. To select the phone that meets your needs, ask yourself the right questions.

What am i using it for ?
Before you splurge on the latest technological jewel beyond price, set out your needs. If only the phone and SMS will suffice, a model with moderated range will do nicely , which by the way are very good now . Only multimedia functions, surfing and e-mail request more .

Autonomy: the sinews of war
It is nice to browse the Internet, watching videos and be guided by his GPS phone, it is still necessary to use it when you want it.The autonomy is paramount, just remember that the Nokia N95 which was at its release very convincing . Be attentive to the power of the battery expressed in mAh. A power greater than 1000 mAh is usually a sign of self-correct consumption .

Multimedia phones do not mean that we use less telephony, it means this function remains the basis of these devices! But these ones are often uneven in terms of sound reproduction of loudspeakers. To avoid unpleasant surprises and the impression of speaking to a robot rather than his father, feel free to test the model that interests you with your friends.

Reception sensitivity
As a phone without a battery, a phone that does not capture signal is useless. The reception quality of the device and the “hook” network are essential. Apart from the coverage of the operator, this sensitivity differs greatly from one model to another. Hard to know how to make a difference on paper, only the return of other users can give you a hint.

Attention to transmit power
While emission standards antennas are central to the controversy over the safety of air or not, we often forget that published studies yet are pointing the finger to the phones. The standard SAR (Specific Absorption Rate ) is mandatory, however communicated. The higher the number, the lower the phone emits waves at the head.

Should we yield to any touch?
Very attractive, though the touch screen is not necessarily essential for all uses. If the navigation and audio / video is better off, it is not the same for e-mails. Nothing worth a well thought out physical keyboard to enter text quickly. In this area Blackberries are still ahead.

Attention to the strength of the unit
We do not think about it that much , but users working in a hostile environment ( external site) also need appropriate models for their use.

Some manufacturers such as Nokia and Samsung offer that. The Korean manufacturer has even recently released a model respecting the exacting IP57 standard.

Otherwise, a strong protective cover may be a good substitution . A quad for frequent travelers-If you’re used to travel abroad, a quad model will be essential. This Standard allows the phone to connect to GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. These four frequency bands and allow you to travel as well across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia (900 and 1800 MHz)) and the U.S., Canada and some countries in South America (850 and 1900 MHz).

The format is important. Three major families of cell phones exist: clamshell, slide and candy bar. The first is very useful for those (or especially) who carry their phones in a purse among other items, because it protects the screen and keyboard. The second allows to obtain such models often compact, while the last, the classic provides very good grip. What onboard memory does it present? Besides the iPhone, the N95 8GB a few other models, many of the current phones offer a microSD memory card, especially those offering multimedia features.  You must therefore be attentive to the capacity of memory card supplied with the unit without having to buy an extra item . The advantage of this system, you can easily expand the storage capacity of its telephone.
