Cell Phone Specials

The eco-friendly trends have lately found applications in the field of cell phone concepts. More and more mobile phone manufacturers are developing greener gadgets, using recycled materials and high technologies in careful ways. Below are three of the most interesting green cell concepts.

The Biodegradable Grass Cell Phone. Judging this device on its appearance you might think that is more suitable to be eaten by a horse, but this is a good opportunity to find out that grass can be a very good material for cell phones. The Grass Cell Phone concept looks like a sod brick fitted with a keypad but the truth is that its designer, Je-Hyun Kim conceived his Natural Year Phone with great consideration for the life cycles of cellular phones. Very often, mobile phones are abandoned or changed due to constant cycles of two-year contracts. The grassy green phone is designed to last only if it`s functional, and starts biodegrading and piecing apart for an easy recycling process after a period of two years. If you probably wonder what will happen with non-grassy components of the phone after the mentioned period, you must know that once the green case has dissolved the screen and soft keys are easy to be recycled and integrated in a new device.

The Atlas Kinetic Green Technology Cell Phone Concept shows that the designer of this device understood the importance of keeping a green Earth, as Atlas Kinetic is made of aluminum and glass. The phone is built to last as a concern for a longer than common cell life cycle and greener solution. The device features a central sapphire glass, revealing the generating and charging unit while the power system is very similar to kinetic/automatic watches (it uses an oscillating weight powering a mainspring). In the same time a central power unit can transform movements into electricity, supplying power to all the electronic components. In case you leave, the rotor stops the kinetic movement and leave the phone static for a long period of time. As in the case of watches, you can also turn the lateral crown a couple of times and this will give power to the mainspring to turn the phone once again. This way you can stop worrying about battery recharging.

LINC it`s typical touch screen smart phone, featuring wireless connectivity, a media player, and a WEB browser. The catchy part about LINC is that it has been released as a service for the user, not like an actual product. More than that, the device can be held for about a year until the next hardware generation comes along, when the user gets a new LINC in the mail.

LINC contains important materials, such as aluminum, glass and electronic components easy to re-use for the producer, because this phone is designed to disassemble automatically. This is possible through a directed radiant heat targeting the internal memory metal latch that releases the assembly in one step.

The phone automatically disassembles into simple components like glass, aluminum, and circuit flex. The components do not contain paints or adhesives, so they can be easily recycled to pure grade materials for immediate reuse. The flexible circuit remaining holds all the necessary electronics for the entire device. Other components like the graphic cards suited for LINC may be used in other devices, such as portable gaming systems.
