Even though it’s not recommended by specialists, in some cases it is necessary that you purchase mobile phones for your children. In some cases, where they need to be left by themselves for longer periods of time, or when they go to school unattended and the school is at a fairly large distance from your home, it’s considered to be a safety issue and that’s why in many cases parents buy mobile phones for their kids. The fact is that a child will be a child and if they have a mobile phone, they will tend to overuse it, a thing mostly seen among teenagers. This is why in this article we’ll take a look at what mobile service carriers have to offer in terms of restrictions specially designed for children.

cell phone plans for children (source: shopaservice.com)

First, the mighty AT&T has two options you can apply to any family plan. The first is called Smart Limits and it allows parents to set monthly limits to a certain line included in the family plan. For only 5$ per month parents can set the exact limit of calls, messages and internet traffic that can be accessed from a certain phone. A great thing about this type of service is the fact that you have many limiting options. Like, for instance, you can block all outgoing calls, excepting certain numbers or you can block outgoing calls in certain time intervals. Another service from AT&T is the Family Map. This allows you to trace the location of your children using the phone’s internal GPS.

cell phone plans for children (source: img.ehowcdn.com)

For the same price, T-Mobile offers Family Allowances, a similar service which allows you to set a maximum limit of operations that can be done from a certain line. After the limit is reached, the user won’t be able to make calls, text or surf the web. A great thing about the option is that you can set Always Allowed numbers that can be called anytime, even if the limit is reached.

Sprint offers even more restrictions that can be made to a certain line. Using their service you can restrict the calls so that they can be made only to numbers in the phonebook, the phonebook containing only numbers approved by you. Verizon has a same offer as T-Mobile but after the minutes and text messages are up, calling is not blocked and you only receive a text message that will inform you of the fact.

I’m going to assume that everyone knows all about the mobile phone carrier Verizon, so I’m going to get right to the matter. In this article we’ll take a look at Verizon’s offer regarding mobile phones and determine which of them are the cheapest. We’ll not only observe the feature phones, but also we’ll take a look at some cheaper smartphones as the word “cheap” has different meanings to different people.

cheap verizon cell phones (source: cache.vzw.com)

If you want to commit to the carrier for a period of two years, then you can purchase a cell phone for prices between 0$ and just over 100$. Among the free feature phones we can find the LG Accolade, a feature flip phone with some interesting features like Verizon Navigator, Bluetooth, Speakerphone and a regular 1.3 megapixel camera for taking some pictures that will not impress anyone. An interesting phone, also in the free category is the Pantech Jest, an odd looking mobile device that has decent performance. It has a 2.6 inch TFT display that hides a full QWERTY keyboard, excellent for surfing the net and especially for using mobile instant messaging. The smartphone has an upgradable memory using a memory card that can store all your music and the pictures taken with the device’s 2 megapixel camera.

cheap verizon cell phones (source: cache.vzw.com)

From Samsung we have the Gusto model, a phone that doesn’t have any special features except for the fact that it’s a great phone for talking. The Gusto is a rugged looking flip phone that has all the basic things you could want from a phone but none of the incorporated components has the performance a phone maniac would look for. And speaking of rugged, for just under 100$ you could buy one of the most rugged phones in the world, the Casio, G’zOne. The phone doesn’t look all that great but apart from the fact that it’s designed to withstand even the most extreme environments in the world, it also has a 3.2 megapixel camera and some other features that are not to be disconsidered.

The Samsung Heaven and the Samsung Intensity II are some other mobile phones from the smartphone category that you can buy for prices as low as 30$. If you don’t have the opportunity to head down to a Verizon dealer, take a look at the official website and check out the entire offer as you will surely find something that will suit your needs.

Internet is a must when it comes to cell phones nowadays. In an era of speed, communication, high technologies the phone as a device is obliged to rise to the expectation of a very sophisticated audience. Why to choose a wireless phone? The answer is simple: need for information in different places, at different moments.

In this wide market even the most pretentious requirements are respected. This is why it is hard to decide upon a specific model or another.

Let’s start with Apple iPhone 3GS. The motto of this Apple model is “More to love. Less to pay”. It is a motto which makes sense once you get to know this smartphone. Let’s start with 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen of 3.5- inch, a Multi-Touch display and 480-by-320-pixel resolution. If we want to call it one of the best wireless phones it is vital to mention some wireless features: UMTS/HSDPA, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), Bluetooth 2.1 and EDR Wireless technology. In plain language: great conditions to connect to wireless networks, speed, and reliability. It meets all your expectations and it does not let you down.

Next in line we have HTC Droid Incredible (Verizon Wireless). The new HTC Droid is really incredible. Among the services provided there are some to be highly considered: able to connect to mobile broadband, HTML browser which supports Flash Lite 4.0, Wi- Fi , Google Maps with Navigation, a number of 1000 apps and 100 widgets easy to be found on Android Market. When talking about features remember that Droid Incredible come with Android 2.1, a great Google Experience Device, 8 GB of internal memory, GPS/e911. Using the new and the best of the HTC Sense, this Droid will require attention and gentle touches. It does the rest for you.

The third on the list is BlackBerry Curve 8900. This phone prides to be fit in your life. Great features stand behind this statement. Regarding wireless services this is what the Blackberry has to say: Wi-Fi Alliance Certifications, 802.11b/g enabled, Wi-Fi access to BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Wi-Fi Protected Setup, Wi-Fi access to BlackBerry® Internet Server, web browsing over Wi-Fi, and even support for UMA/GAN. The Blackberry Curve 8900 is designed to help you keep in touch. Only a mouse away.

Code name: Samsung Rogue SCH-U960 (Verizon Wireless). The Samsung Rogue is specially made for those whose life can be comprised inside a widescreen display of 3.1″ . It says yes to USB, WAP, and Internet HTML browser with Flash Lite. As operating system platform stands CDMA/PCS/1X, EVDO, Rev A. Behind all these technical details Samsung Rogue also stands for speed, discretion and elegancy.

This is just a modest draft of the best wireless phones. The list could easily continue in the same tone. The phone models above are different in terms of design, specifications or features. However, they all have in common a very important goal: to make sure you keep in touch with the world. They understand to do this by providing you the required technology. Wireless stands for freedom of movement.

Many users have probably hears about smartphones and 3G technology, but not too many are sure what this really means. 3G stands for third generation technology, the current result of the efficient evolution of mobile phone technology. With 3G data can be transferred at an extremely high speed.

In the current times, the constant demanding for technological innovation plays a major role in our lives and with every kind of product. As regarding the mobile phones, a constant up-gradation of technology is a must in the current state of such devices. These are not only gadgets anymore, used to communicate but they also need a wide number of other features such as a camera, a huge storage space, Bluetooth connectivity, music and video playback and many other things. Apart from these sophisticated capabilities, the most important criteria when choosing a cell phone in the present is the connectivity. This is where 3G has come into demand.

Even though that most mobile handsets in the market at the present moment are based on 2G technology, including a standards like GSM (Global System for Mobile) communication. Other handsets have higher data transfer, speed and capability than the standard 2G, and can be included in the 2.5G and the 2.75G categories. Most common 2.5G technology includes the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and it works along with the GSM networks. In the same array we can find technologies such as CDMA and EDGE (Enhanced Data Transfer Rates for GSM Evolution). With successive technology generations the speed of data transfer has grown form the previous one, and in order to maintain the standards with certain services, such as ringtone downloading, picture and text messaging, and the mobile web the technology is being gradually enhanced.

The 3G mobile technology is considered a substantial advancement forward regarding the data transfer for cell phones. With the increasing demands coming from the users and the increasing mobile networks, providers have to buck up and offer faster data transfer rates than ever. 3G phones are considered a masterpiece of innovation and time. Features such as the video calling, allowing the user to see the person talking to over the phone is such an example of advancement brought by the new mobile technology.

As a result, all the leading manufacturers have launched their 3G enabled handsets and they the continuous object of a fierce competition between them. The 3G phones are the first preferences of customers, others than those expressing the option of buying a more economical mobile device, and as the last few years of this industry is showing us these are the favorites of everyone.

The 3G handsets are very advanced technologically as high-end devices with rich features. The price tag is also quite high, and this is the only reason that could make a potential user to change its mind. It is also true that many user do not mind their wallet, if they will be able to have the best technology at their disposal. So, we shouldn’t be surprised by the constant rising demand of such devices.

The main standards of the 3G technology, developed and used in areas around the globe are: W-CDMA or the Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access, providing the 2G GSM standard in two shapes, UMTS and FOMA. The EV-DO is designed by Qualcomm and is the CDMA`s competitor to the W-CDMA. EV-DO or the Evolution Data Optimized represents a broadband standard of data, already used by many wireless connection providers with a data transfer rate of approximate 2Mbit per second of download.

The Palm Pixi Plus smart phone is the new version of Palm Pre, which can be achieved for $99.99 with a two year contract from Verizon Wireless. This smart phone includes Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot capabilities, video recording, and integrated Flash support. Palm Pixi Plus resembles Palm Pixi very much, the only important difference being the Wireless Verizon presence. The price is also a good one for a new entry on the smart phone market. Once again we are amazed by the many capabilities such a thin and light designed smart phone can have, since the last appearance of the Motorola Razr. It has only 4.4 × 2.2 × 0.4 inches, and it looks far lighter and better than the previous Pre Plus, that measured 4.0 × 2.4 × 0.7 inches). Another surprising feature of this smart phone is its weight that reaches only 3.3 ounces, which means you can barely sense its presence while you keep it in your hand.

Not that it doesn’t have a solid appearance, because it looks quite well assembled and also has a rubberized back cover. On the whole, it is covered by a glossy black color, inspired by a modern aesthetic. It also has a ringer switch on the right side, two other distinct volume buttons, and a micro USB port. You can also choose between the many different back covers made by various artists, for a more personalized look, or between the solid color backs in Blue, orange, black, pink, and green, for $19.99 each.

It also manages multitouch gestures very well, and multitasks, such as pinching to zoom in on photos or web pages. It does respond very well and fast, to all these commands. However, the screen of Pre Plus was 3.1 inches, that is wider than Pixi Plus’s smaller screen size, but you will not have time to regret this quality shift, due to the previously mentioned multitasks it can handle. Of course, it was easier to see the text on the screen of a Pre Plus smart phone, whereas on the Pixi Plus you will have to firstly zoom in to start your reading. Otherwise, the small dimension of the screen would be seemingly too narrow to read large Web and e-mail pages. You will have to keep on zooming in and out in order to manage to read an entire Web page. You might also sense a lightening shift in the quality of the screen’s clarity, compared with Pre Plus. But this doesn’t differ too much, so it doesn’t keep you from enjoying the contrasts.

There is also a similitude between typing on Pixi Plus and on BlackBerry, more perceptible than with the Pre Plus. This thing is possible thanks to the candy bar design, unlike the slider one, which issues from the possibility to create a layout with raised keys. All these features maintain and make you reevaluate the importance of this smart phone’s design in keeping things simple and at the same time helping you accomplish all the complicated tasks, such as writing e-mails or typing Web addresses fast enough.
