Microsoft smartphone : windows phone 7

Published by cellphones, on September 8th, 2010, in the categories: Smartphone

Three years after announcing the release of Apple's iPhone, one year after the Palm Pre and just months after the release of the Nexus One of Google, it's up to Microsoft to present its own smartphone Windows Phone 7 (and if the Redmond company is so well known, it is also and especially for their originality in the choice of their products names).

If you have a smartphone, you probably are already familiar with Microsoft's Windows Mobile, the mobile operating system used mainly by Motorola and HTC, but where it innovates, it presented to us their own mobile phone invented and produced by Microsoft itself! According to some experts, it would be the "best smartphone since the iPhone", or more interesting than the Nexus One, the Motorola Droid and the Palm Pre, which remains one of the greatest achievements of this sector .

This smartphone, just like the iPhone ,and which is probably closer to a laptop than a mobile phone should have been released three years ago, shortly afterthe release of the Apple`s iPhone . Seeing the success of the iPhone, Microsoft has clearly chosen to play on quality and innovation.
And apparently, by comparison with the miserable failures of Nokia and Samsung, who wanted to run  a fast movement in the "iPhone Like" phones , it was the right choice, as many analysts predict a great success to the Windows Phone 7.

Another new mobile operating system, which replaces more or less wisely Windows Mobile. Big improvements are available, which we can say that it makes you want it !
In particular, and to only mention at this point that in  the level of navigation and accessibility ,everything is now structured, what was missing in Windows Mobile is present in this new OS and to access an application or manage your programs, it now takes a "click" (if one can call it that).

In addition, Microsoft has finally managed to achieve all its many services in one system, so the HD Zune, Xbox Live, Bing, Internet Explorer Mobile, Windows Live Messenger and many others literally follow you everywhere.

But the OS Windows Mobile Phone 7 will not be restricted to Microsoft! Many other applications are making  the presentation better , and most importantly, bringing new features to the phone. Thus, from Vinageer gpsOne (the instant messaging system , not the browser.) to Facebook, the least we can say is that er have a lot of choices concerning the use of this smartphone. In terms of Windows Mobile, nothing is less certain. It does not seem to be completely dead, but clearly it can not compete with his successor, which will be able to be sold separately from Windows Phone, a bit like the Palm webOS or the iPhone OS.

The question asked is  :  what will Apple do now that Microsoft is also releasing a smartphone? Because we all remember that Apple , at the launch of the Nexus One by Google ,decided to replace the search engine of its iPhone, which at that time was Google, by the Microsoft Bing.

Smartphone tools

Published by cellphones, on September 2nd, 2010, in the categories: Smartphone

As cell phones are being replaced by smartphones in being our daily companions . Some important tools and options have been develloped to suit the consumer use  :

1. Data security in case of theft
The damage far outweigh the calls made on his account - which can be quickly blocked. The text may contain material both sensitive and essential.

2.  Lock the access to your files
The access code is the minimum security measure. Now some smartphones (eg the newest Toshiba) also include a fingerprint reader. Access to records is restricted to persons who have registered their biometric profile. Note that many people can do on a single device, the owner can then share their smartphone with colleagues if they wish.

3. The  touch screen for easy navigation
A touch screen is very convenient to navigate, but some users prefer a knob or a navigation button, in which you can navigate with one hand. A touch screen is not necessarily more fragile than a regular screen, but the price impact. Some precautions: do not press the screen to avoid shocks and falls, use only the pen provided with the camera, at a pinch use a finger, and do not forget to remove it from your pocket before sitting down!

4. Choosing a Pro multiband needed
As for cell phones, frequency bands used vary from one operator to another and from one country to another. One should choose a model multiband to get the best networks where they are available, at least tri-band if you leave in U.s , a dual band would be enough if you are located in Europe , or quad for some Asian countries.

5.  The Wi-Fi
A few models also have access to wireless LAN: Wi-Fi When available, Wi-Fi allows access to the Internet much faster than the mobile phone networks (from the 3.5 billion). This may also be interesting in the context of communication outside the package. Indeed, the packages are based on the amount of data transmitted, and someone who communicates a lot of files can easily exceed its package.

6. Command and voice recognition
The control and speech synthesis can not only call people in the address book or dictate the number to dial, but also (for example, in certain models of HP) to dictate or listen to e-mails ( email hands free).

7. Pro Various types of keyboards
The choice depends on the type of keyboard use which will be made. A simple numeric keypad, like a normal phone, is to be reserved for the experts of the thumb and predictive texting, but become tedious when used intensively. A QWERTY mini keyboard allow its users  to write their emails almost as fast as the office. It is often possible to connect an external foldable keyboard. This does not perhaps give the comfort of a laptop, but can still be quite useful.

8.Costs of Wi-Fi
A person traveling abroad would also appreciate not paying extra fees for international access (roaming) operator for internet surfing, through a gateway account (such as Skype Out, Wengo, the new Barablu...).

9.  Bluetooth: the alternative
The Bluetooth can connect to other devices: headset, another phone, handsfree, car speakers, computer, printer, GPS ... the latest  version, Bluetooth 2.0, was released not too long ago  which is the speed of 720 kb / s to 2 Mb / s while consuming less energy. This allows, for example, reducing the time required to transfer a file, or send a photo to another mobile or a printer over a dozen meters.

10. A default navigator
Smartphones not equipped with GPS can not however work as navigating devices , using an external GPS module (sometimes called GPS  antenna,it contains the electronics for receiving, decoding and communication )The GPS receiver is placed under the windscreen and communicates with the smartphone via Bluetooth.

Purchase your smartphone

Published by cellphones, on September 2nd, 2010, in the categories: Smartphone

Tired of your old simple phone ? Since the trend now is to have a smartphone you want to purchase one and you are a little bit lost in what the market offers . Here is a simple guide to help you make your choice :

The screen to process documents
In all cases, a good screen quality and size is best, either for processing documents or view photos. A smartphone has naturally a bigger screen than a conventional mobile phone. For comfort, choose a screen as large as possible.

The graphical input through the stylus
Another approach is the graphical input on some of the touch screen using the stylus. Some can achieve a very good speed. It is a question of taste and habit.

Personal choice of navigation
The navigation is mostly a personal choice: some people prefer a knob or a mini-trackball (like on the BlackBerry Pearl) to navigate.Others prefer the more intuitive approach of the touchscreen.

Choose broadband to communicate your data
The smartphone is used primarily to communicate. The network connection is a paramount. A broadband network is necessary if one wants to communicate a large amount of data. Despite claims by the operators, 3G and 3G +  are still far from covering the whole territory. And though we are speaking now about 4G , it is still a technology that needs to get mature .

Synchronize your data with the web!
The navigation is more a personal choice: some people prefer a knob or a mini-trackball (like on the BlackBerry Pearl) to navigate. These systems can, in fact, to navigate with one hand while the touch screens require both. Others prefer the more intuitive approach of the touchscreen.

The GPS system on your Smartphone
Some smartphones offer a GPS function, thereby reducing the number of devices in the pocket, especially since it is preferable not to let a mobile GPS in the car. However, we have only the GPS (TomTom, Viamichelin ...) provided by the manufacturer of smartphone. Unless you buy and then install another software. A true multimedia platform!  Like many of their similar conventional multimedia mobile phones, smartphones include camera, video camera, MP3 player. The criteria for these functions are identical to those phones, which are added multimedia playback functions.

A powerful battery for mobile
The battery life is very important to look at twice before you decide. Designed for mobile use and professional, a PDA-phone constantly out of power would cause many problems. This is something even more important that some functions are extremely energy-intensive, such as 3G communications, the Wif-Fi and GPS. In addition, these devices contain powerful processors (more than a normal phone), which also consume much energy.

Assisted GPS
Some smartphones or PDA-Phones offer an enhanced version of GPS: the A-GPS. The smartphone then based in part on the mobile network and the data connection to speed up GPS tracking. In addition to that, this solution provides maps up to date.

Get a suitable size for your needs
The sizes vary from one cell phone to another. Too large or  small , everyone has its avantages.Take it into account when making your choice. The small terminals are discrete but often have small screens and reduced autonomy. The large size often offer more features, large screen and good battery life but at the expense of "portability".

Apple iPhone 3G
Apple unveiled its first smartphone device : the iPhone in the end of the year 2007 , with a distribution model original and a huge buzz to precede it. the phone has been better received in the United States  than in Europe , it has stamped his mark at the outset in the mobile sector through its style and its economy.  In July 2008, the iPhone 3G version comes with a distribution adapted to the mass market, firmware 2.0, which makes it a true smartphone and direct access to mobile applications in the App Store. The success was immediate: Apple became the third vendor of smartphones in the space of three months, past Windows Mobile.
So, admittedly, there are some little things that are annoying about it  but Apple has completely succeeded in entering a market considered to be difficult .

iPhone 3G on our price comparison
Nokia N96

Nokia N96 appeared to  make a way for the promising but expensive Nokia N97, Nokia has launched its N96 model, successor to the successful model N95. Still as richly endowed, but still no touch screen, it incorporates the dual format of the older slider.

Still as richly endowed (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, HSDPA), it is also ready to receive mobile TV in DVB-H through its integrated module. Its large display 2.8 "will be an advantage for the multimedia content that can be stored in its 16 GB of internal memory expandable with microSD slot.  Nokia has also on its mobile services, whether access to Nokia Music Store portal or mobile games downloaded from Nokia N-Gage. The Nokia N96 is a concentrate of technology but its Achilles heel remains the same: autonomy, while its price makes it a premium product.

Blackberry Storm
Blackberry Storm touchscreen is first smartphone that continues its strategy of seduction of the public, began with the BlackBerry Pearl and Curve. Smartphones are no longer only reserved for professionals and Storm falls in step with its main competitor, the iPhone, offering his vision of the touchscreen smartphone.  Abandoning an essential element, however, Blackberries, namely its integrated keyboard (now virtual), the Blackberry Storm uses the screen clickable rather than back by vibration. Boarding enough to satisfy the appetites of productivity and desires playful, it positions itself as a typically versatile smartphone.

Samsung Omnia
The answer to the iPhone from Samsung is Omnia . It runs on Windows Mobile, with a specific interface widgets made obscure the austerity of the operating system from Microsoft, as a part of a versatile smartphone.

That answer appears rather attractive, with a terminal touch interface with a wide range of features and a 5 megapixel digital camera that can play DivX natively and with a strong storage space of 8 or 16 GB, expandable on microSD slot.

HTC Touch HD After  the success of the HTC Touch Diamond, the first smartphone to have the TouchFLO 3D interface and real concentration of technology, unfortunately, limited autonomy and a fair bit of nasty slowdowns, HTC unveiled in the autumn an impressive device, the HTC Touch HD, with a comfortable tactile 3.8 "and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.  Powerful, alluring, adorned with all the technologies of the moment, the HTC Touch HD has points in its favor and this boosted the successor of the Touch Diamond.
