Blackberry Pearl 9105
Blackberry Pearl 3G (9105) is the latest smartphone launched in the UK and it represents an update of the Blackberry Pearl range, brought by the 3G connectivity and additional computing power to the entry level smartphone than ever before.
Measuring 107×49.7×13.2 mm, the new headset from RIM has a candy bar design being as quaint as it is small. The design has been drawn heavily from the current Blackberry Bold 9700 but it`s more curved and has stronger tactile approach to previous outings of the Pearl.
For the time being coming only in the black variant, but it seems that a special pink or purple edition is being prepared, the front of the Blackberry Pearl 9105 sports a 360×400 pixel resolution display that is quite crisp while hosting beneath it , a standard numberpad.

Launching this model seems to be rather a strange move coming from the manufacturing company, as it seems to appeal to consumers rather to regular business folks. That`s why, RIM has decided not to offer a QWERTY variant of the front for the Europeans. They insisted instead that this new Pearl model users might use a standard predictive text input instead. Even stranger is the fact that a decision in this regard has not been taken in the United Stated, where operators were left themselves to decide this aspect, whether or not offering a surepad or a numberpad.
The European variant with the predictive text is definitely easy to use on the phone, as the user learns as it goes like T9 input where you only have to press the key once to get it starting spelling the wanted word. For example, pressing A+A+A gives the Abacus.
A not so happy aspect is the fact that the handset lacks a touchscreen, but there is no actual real need here. RIM have installed their newest optical trackpad as it can be found on the Bold. Using it could really surprise the user through being incredibly responsive, and using it allows the user to whizz around the grid interface or scrolling through the email with ease.
The trackpad is very easy to play on the Bold and it`s quite the same here, with the added bonus of 18 months into the contract users might get surprised that it will still be working , where the namesake pearl trackball would often give up the ghost.

The new Blackberry Pearl also offers a range of entertainment features. The 9105 Pearl provides the user with access to personal email accounts, including some common services like Google Mail and Yahoo Mail, together with instant messaging, text, and multimedia messaging to keep in touch with the user`s contacts through the handset.
It also features a 3.2 megapixel resolution camera, with auto focus, a flash to enhance light in poor light conditions. The camera features additional 2.5 times digital zoom so that taking pictures would become simpler and easier. It can also video record while supporting all video formats for playback.
